Introductory Post
My name is Michael Mokdad and I currently reside in Allen Park with my beautiful wife and five wonderful children. I am the proud principal of River Rouge High School which is located just south of Detroit. I started my career as an environmental engineer and traveled the world testing fortune 500 companies. Constant travel got very old quickly, and the job, even though it was financially rewarding, was not personally rewarding at all. I decided to resign my position and go back to school and pursue a career in education. Over the past 24 years, I have been a teacher, a curriculum leader, a curriculum coordinator, an assistant principal, and now a principal. I worked most of my career in Detroit Public Schools before taking a leap of faith and accepting the position at River Rouge High School. Things at the school could not be any better. Enrollment is way up this year and the school is improving both culturally and academically. I have some experience with technology and social medial but I am interested in refining the process and making it more efficient. I am always committed to improving myself both technologically and professionally and look forward to collaborating with many of you this semester.

It's incredible that you were willing to take the risk and start a new career for yourself. It sounds like you found a good fit, but I would be incredibly nervous to start over again. How long have you been a principal now? My fiance actually worked in the music program through River Rouge, I believe. Best wishes and excited to collaborate with you this semester!
ReplyDeleteHi Micheal, It is nice to have a principal in this class. I would like to get the view from the administrative side of education. I looking forward to working with you this semester and hearing your opinions.
ReplyDeleteWelcome again, Michael. I'm not sure if I knew you lived in Allen Park. It's where I grew up! And congrats on the new position!
